This position is responsible for ensuring the Southern Ute Growth Fund and its business enterprises are in compliance with the regulations applicable to doing business on and off the Southern Ute Indian Reservation, including the Clean Water Act (CWA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Endangered Species Act (ESA). This position is an environmental leadership position responsible for the development, execution, and training of environmental programs and initiatives that communicate environmental awareness and compliance for the Growth Fund. This position is responsible for working independently or with limited supervision to perform broad environmental tasks of complex scope within one or more disciplines.

Required Skills:  Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, Engineering or related discipline and ten years work experience in environmental health and safety, five years of which must be in the oil, gas or energy industry, and five years of which environmental work has been performed. OR Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, Engineering or related discipline and twelve years work experience in environmental health and safety, six years of which must be in the oil, gas or energy industry, and six years of which environmental work has been performed.  Must have excellent command of federal and state environmental rules and regulations, and specifically have experience and knowledge of CWA §401, §402, & §404, ESA, and NEPA permitting.  Must have experience with environmental training development and delivery.   Must have experience providing environmental permitting, planning, designing and project oversight for mid-stream and E&P related oil and gas projects.  Must have experience conducting biological surveys of plants, animals, and potential habitat for endangered species.  Must have the ability to maintain environmental database systems for tracking compliance-related permits, documents, monitoring reports, audits, and status of abatement/mitigation procedures.  Must have experience in AutoCad, ESRI (ArcGIS) suite and soil loss equations for developing project site plans, drawings and maps.  Must have proficient technical writing skills in order to prepare reports, standard operating procedures and other highly technical environmental documents.  Experience in computer software programs within the Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, and Teams.  Participation in a positive and productive team-oriented environment is required.  Must have valid driver’s license for state of residency and be insurable under the Growth Fund vehicle insurance policy.  Must pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check.
