Arts and Events
Our diverse activities and numerous ways to get involved make it simple to meet up with friends or create new ones. Residents are passionate about their interests and worthy causes, which is why we have a great mix of clubs and volunteer opportunities. Be an instant part of the community by enrolling either yourself or a child in one of our team sports. Anything having to do with wheels, climbing rocks, snow or water, we’ve got you covered. We also host youth soccer events and our Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is legendary.
Loads of Fun
It’s impossible to list everything Durango and the surrounding area has to offer, but one thing’s certain, you’ll never be bored here. Our cultural environment rivals that of a big city and our outdoor adventures are second to none. We’ve got year-round festivals, museums for adults and kids, gallery walks, music venues with big names, and smaller music scenes with a lot of heart. There’s also Music in the Mountains, our high altitude conservatory with gorgeous views. If you enjoy a community recreation center, Durango’s is full of activities and next to the river, as is the public library. The Animas River is the centerpiece of our county. We use it for recreation, fishing, bird watching and sitting along its banks to rejuvenate. Even our dogs have their own river park.
